Hilltop Staff Credentials
Hilltop Staff Are Credentialed Through
The Maryland State Department of Education
The Hilltop teachers and staff take the next step to ensure the highest levels of on-going training, education and community involvement by meeting the requirements of the Credentialing Program with MSDE.
What does this mean?
Research shows that high-quality programs result in long-term benefits for children.
All child care professionals are required to have a minimum of training determined by MSDE Licensing. Our staff has exceeded these basic requirements by pursuing and achieving an increased number of training clock hours, experience and community involvement important for providing quality child care programs. It also means that the Hilltop staff is fully dedicated to the children and families we serve as they are required to maintain a position in the field for a designated time. Staff must submit documentation and an application on an annual basis, training is continuous.
The extra levels of training and involvement ensure that our staff remains most current in developmentally appropriate practices and innovative curriculum.
Our Mission: Eager to Learn & Ready for School
The Hilltop Child Care Center provides a unique learning experience for 2 1/2 – 5 year olds. We believe that a loving environment, a positive relationship with families and a well-balanced early education curriculum will give our children the knowledge and confidence they need to be prepared for primary school. Our nurturing atmosphere provides the opportunity for children to develop socially, intellectually, spiritually and emotionally.
Hilltop’s home-like surroundings and small class sizes make the transition to
school easier for young children. Caring and credentialed staff are ready to help
each child feel comfortable and secure.
Class sizes are limited to 15 children per room! Smaller groups allow us to focus on:
- Developing relationships with families
- Responding to individual needs
- Stimulating each child’s learning ability
- Enriching the program with personal enthusiasm
- Hiring and maintaining quality staff
The Hilltop Difference
At the top of the hill, there’s an exceptional place where children learn and develop. Hilltop Child Care Center (HCCC) offers all the benefits of a small center with individual attention and a quality program you would expect to find at a larger facility. We believe that a child’s environment has a powerful impact on learning and development. The nurturing atmosphere and personal attention at Hilltop provide the basis for social, intellectual and emotional development. All children are welcome. And each child matters.
Since our establishment in 2002, HCCC has provided a unique learning experience for 2 1/2 year-olds through Pre-K that has successfully prepared children for primary school and beyond. We work closely with families to ensure every child’s needs and goals are met. HCCC is affiliated with Linden-Linthicum United Methodist Church and we believe exposure to a general Christian influence during developmental years result in a spirit of respect for self and others. As a private enterprise, Hilltop has a diverse group of families and exposes the children to other religions and cultures.
A Healthy Howard Child Care Site!
We are 1 of only 69 Childcare sites in all of Howard County that has earned and continues to maintain this certification! Hilltop recognizes and embraces the health and well being of each child in our care. We have been a participant in the Healthy Howard program for 3 years and continue to meet the requirements to maintain our certification. We have a Healthy Howard approved snack menu providing nutritionally well-balanced foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains. We ensure that healthy habits are reinforced throughout our curriculum, through our daily schedule and direct lesson planning.
